The Beginning of the Continuation...

Well, here I am again. After five long years, can you believe it?! The first time that I blogged here was back in December of 2004. It was actually the last time, too. Check out the old blog here.

So, if you've read the previous blog, you'd know that there is a link to my old webjournal. Last night I happened upon my old webjournal and was amazed to see that I had written at one of the most lowest, but craziest, points of my life. It was all about binge-drinking, breaking up, and partying ALL THE TIME. Dude, I was already 24 then and I was still partying like a 19-year-old college kid. Sigh. How I miss those days when I used to get drunk and wild and still wake up the next morning looking fabulous. Now I get drunk and sick and wake up in the morning looking like a used dishrag.

So anyway, this isn't really supposed to be a blog about how old and decrepit I feel, or what a party girl I used to be and all the crazy stuff that I did that nobody really knew about - THAT is a post that will come soon ;-)

No, what I really wanted to blog about was something that I discovered just recently when searching for clues of what happened to my favorite teen Filipina-American idol. No - I'm not talking about Vanessa Hudgens. (That girl gets on my nerves for reasons that I haven't fully analyzed, but of course plan to do.) I'm talking about the one and only beautiful, smart, talented Lizzie McGuire sidekick Lalaine Vergara-Paras.

I was such a huge fan of hers during my whole Lizzie McGuire phase. I thought she was funny, had beautiful eyes, had a great sense of humor and deserved more than just a sidekick role in Disney shows. And then I found out she was pure Filipina (born and raised in Burbank, CA, and I was thrilled! Even now people mistake her for a Latina, but she's proud of her heritage and is quick to tell people about her ethnic background. She even went back to the Philippines for a while to host a TV show called "Flipside" on the Travel Channel. Flipside concentrates on Lalaine's return to the Philippines in a quest to discover her old roots. She ventures all over Manila, stopping by local hotspots and tourist traps, all the while tasting various Filipino delicacies and picking up interesting tidbits of Philippine history. Check out some of her Flipside episodes onYouTube.

Aside from a career in TV, Lalaine is also a budding musician, with smooth vocals and quick fingers on the guitar. She was cast in the Broadway production of Les Miserables in the roles of Young Cosette and Eponine because of her beautiful voice, and she also later sang as orphan Kate in the movie "Annie."

Now that I've told you all about her, here's what I found out when I was searching for any recent news of her online. OK, so this is not so recent, but pretty close. Lalaine was arrested on July, 2007 for felony possession of methamphetamine, otherwise known as crystal meth. In the Philippines it's widely known as "shabu." I know what you're saying right now, "WTF?!" I can't believe it either! This beautiful, talented, sweet, adorable girl is on drugs?!! Read all about it in the Hollywood Grind.

Disappointment cannot describe what I feel for this girl. She has her whole future ahead of her and though she hasn't hit the big time, she very well could with some honest perseverance and faith. But you know what? I should cut her some slack. I myself know how tempting drugs can be, and how hanging with the wrong crowd can easily influence you to do things you'll later regret.

I admit that yes, I have done crystal meth in the past. Now it's your turn to be disappointed. Sigh. I'm sorry to have burst your bubble, especially that I look like such a sweet innocent in my picture, lol. Who am I kidding?! Those of you who really know me are probably not shocked at all.

The truth is, going to university in the Philippines and hanging out with the wrong crowd is so easy. It's easy to get drugs. Easy to buy alcohol (there's no age limit on purchasing alcohol and tobacco). Easy to do a lot of bad things that you generally would have a ferociously difficult time doing in the United States.

So you want to know how I ended up doing crystal meth, and what other crazy sh*t I did in the PI? Stick around and find out! This is just the beginning of the continuation.....
